The ideal candidate has experience in freight forwarding, transportation, logistics, or freight brokerage and understands the requirements involved in moving freight domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities
  • Review customer shipment requests and determine the appropriate domestic or international transportation solution.

  • Prepare accurate, competitive freight quotes for domestic and international shipments.

  • Quote FTL, LTL, expedited, intermodal, air freight, ocean freight, and other transportation services as applicable.

  • Obtain and compare rates, transit times, equipment availability, and service options from carriers, freight forwarders, and transportation providers.

  • Calculate freight costs, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, customs-related costs, duties/taxes when applicable, and other applicable fees.

  • Communicate pricing, transit times, routing, and service options clearly to customers and sales representatives.

  • Follow up on quotes and assist with converting opportunities into booked shipments.

  • Create basic domestic trucking shipments in the company's TMS, including shipper, consignee, pickup and delivery information, equipment type, commodity, weight, dimensions, and other required shipment details.

  • Enter and maintain accurate shipment information in the TMS and ensure required fields and documentation are completed.

  • Create basic shipment records, rate confirmations, pickup information, and other transportation documentation as required.

  • Coordinate with operations and dispatch to ensure quoted shipments are properly set up and ready for execution.

  • Support the setup and coordination of international shipments, including gathering required shipment information and documentation.

  • Work with carriers, steamship lines, airlines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics providers as needed.

  • Verify shipment details, rates, and accessorial charges before releasing shipments to operations or dispatch.

  • Monitor freight rates, capacity, transit times, and market conditions for domestic and international transportation.

  • Maintain accurate customer, carrier, pricing, and shipment information in the TMS/CRM.

  • Resolve pricing discrepancies and respond to customer questions regarding quotes and transportation options.

  • Coordinate with sales, operations, customer service, and accounting to ensure accurate and profitable shipments.

  • Maintain profitability while providing competitive and service-focused transportation solutions.

  • Meet established response-time, accuracy, and performance goals.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of domestic and international transportation.

  • Understanding of freight rates, lanes, equipment types, transit times, and transportation terminology.

  • Familiarity with FTL, LTL, air, ocean, intermodal, and expedited freight is a plus.

  • Basic understanding of international shipping processes and documentation is preferred.

  • Experience creating or managing shipments in a TMS or transportation software.

  • Strong attention to detail and data-entry accuracy.

  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple quote and shipment requests simultaneously.

  • Strong organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
